INFOPINTAR - Xiaomi users are well-acquainted with MIUI and HyperOS which often display ads in notifications and system apps. Now, Xiaomi seems to be preparing an easier method to remove these ads from their devices.
Tipster Yogesh Brar and SmartPrix have found evidence that Xiaomi is developing a way to remove system ads in HyperOS with just one tap. Theydiscovered a toggle in the Xiaomi settings app that can be clicked to disable ads. SmartPrix also posted a GIF showing the ads in system apps toggle which can be clicked to enable or disable system ads.
Currently, Xiaomi users who want to remove ads from their devices must go through a lengthy amd complicated process. Usersneed to disable the MSA app and navigate to the settings menu in each system app like Mi Browser, music, themes and others. This process often leads users to seek online guides from third parties, which can pose security risk and potentially lead to bloatware. However, in recent years the number of ads displayed on Xiaomi devices has significantly decreased.
If this feature is implemented, the toggle will simplify a previously complex process. Users will no longer need to search for online guides and can control their experience more easily.
Xiaom's business model relies on ads as one of its revenue sources. This approach allows them to sell devices at affordable prices with a profit margin capped at 5℅ as reported by android Authority on Saturday (July 7 2024).
SmartPrix reported that the toggle is available on the Xiaomi 13 Pro running a test build of HyperOS. However, it is still unclear when this feature will be officially released and whether it will be available for older Xiaomi devices running MUIU.
